jon21 Like almost every other mommy blogger out there, I’ve written about the Gosselin family before. Jon and Kate plus 8 has been a staple in my home since my kiddos were little and I believe it is the single reality television show that I have ever actually enjoyed and cared for the people on it. Sure, there are merits to the other reality television shows and they all have their place in my viewing cycle, but this show was different for several reasons. For those of you that don’t know, Jon and Kate plus  8 is a television show on the TLC network that profiles a husband and wife that went through fertility treatments and ended up hitting the proverbial fetus lottery. With twins and sextuplets the jolly ring of the show’s title starts to resemble something more like a battle cry, the last shriek before the ship sinks. With all of that said, and everyone fully up to speed I have to say a few things about this season and the changes that have been made to the show.
Jon's updated hobbies, not trykes anymore....

Jon's updated hobbies, not trykes anymore....

First, the speculation that Jon was having some torrid love affair with a school teacher was confirmed when pictures came out of him with her in the car at some crazy non-married hour in the morning. Jon, if you are having an affair, you are doing the wrong thing. Can I blame you? Nope. Your wife treats you like garbage on television, I can’t imagine what it’s like when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Second, this perfectly coiffed icon of the ideal family matriarch is a lie. Kate has gone from being concerned, slightly neurotic but still relatively sane given the circumstances mom…. all the way  to a self centered egocentric drama whore who insists on  crushing her family on her aggressive and unchecked search for fame and fortune. This is like some backasswards  episode of The Swan , you know the show where they lock you in a room four 3 months and lipo your ass, inject the fat into your lips, stretch your face over your forehead and starve you until you fit into a size 2 and pass off for an actual human being? Yeah, this happened to kate. Her carefree parenting that defied the logic and persistence of local authorities has changed and her brave and bold attempt to document the lives of their gazillion beautiful children while simultaneously traumatizing them into never understanding what a healthy relationship should feel like, just isnt good television anymore.
After.

After.

I used to watch it for the snarky little jabs this woman rained down on the head of her husband every.single.scene. and for the way she was so obsessive compulsive about dust that could be found once you move the electronic equipment. It made me, and all my weird little thrilling mommy tricks, look pretty normal.  It was interesting to watch their family grow, and to learn how such a large brood of children could be herded without the use of narcotics or modified cattle prods. Luckily, I have learned things from this show. But all good things must come to an end, and now is that time. This season, while dancing around the one topic america tunes in to the show to hear about, You can see not only a physical change in the members of the Gosellin family, but also an emotional change. The entire show was sad, one point catching the disgruntled and broken moment between a father and his young child, explaining why he couldn’t be home all the time. For a child that doesn’t understand what is happening and why a birthday party for 6 adorable five year olds was such a somber affair, this children are being affected. Now is the time to see that. They said that they would continue making the television show until it stopped being beneficial to their children, and started poorly affecting their lives.

Might this come back to haunt you?

Might this come back to haunt you?

Look around you Gosselin family, I think you are being affected.

What do you think, Should the Gosselin’s stop filming their television show?

Why or why not?
