Blogging Commandments
- You are only as popular as the time you put in to your blog.
- Commenting Etiquette, Learn it.
- Write more, bitch less.
- Being featured is an honor, not a gift. Earn it.
- Even though it is silly, participate in the community.
- Get off your own porch and mingle. Social networking requires you to be sociable.
- Embrace the meta-blog. This is what we do, and learning every nuance of it is something that needs to happen.
- Follow through, if you are going to blog, be consistent and blog on a schedule.
- Be polite, always. Comment sections are public domain, and we probably read alot of the same material. Watch what you say when you think no one is looking.
- If blogging is the only way you get attention, you are boring. Please do something other than this so that you can come back and write about it.
- Have your finger on the pulse of the blogosphere, but don’t install an IV port. Writing what everyone else is writing makes reading a chore, form your ideas first, then start reading other blogs.
- Make me laugh. I spent five minutes on your site, it is the least you can do.
- Give me your opinion, Ive already read the news, seen the report and watched the movie. Give me a new way of looking at the same thing, personal opinions are what blogging is all about.
- Check your facts. Sloppy reporting is for FoxNews and the E network. Fact check at least two seperate sources for each idea.
- Pick your stance, stick to it. Make the statement and follow through with it.
- Dont give in to advertisers, a couple of well placed ads are fine, we all need to make a buck. Just don’t overdo it.
- There is a fine line between Persona and Facade, try not to walk it.
- Be real, it’s easy to spot a fake.
Alright, what are your blogging commandments?
