attendance at a rally (it’s just not my style) we ran over to the Ganja Gourmet. Medical marijuana is easy to get, but medicated lasagna can be a bit more difficult unless you find yourself at the Ganja Gourmet. From the outside, this little shop looks like just another one of the dispensaries on Broadway but once you show your “red card” and a picture ID, the restaurant ala’ marijuana, is revealed. Some of you say heaven is a place where you will meet up with old friends, I say heaven is a restaurant that sells cannabis-laced pizza. After signing the paperwork required by the state and showing enough identification to enter a bank vault, Im greeted by a smiling man in a tie-dye t-shirt. The bar, reminiscent of an old school diner, is packed with people. There is a comfortable couch in the corner, where I plop down to straighten out my paperwork but before I get the chance I am prodded to sit alongside the other Ganja gourmet patrons. Two nice gentlemen now sitting to my right are rapid-firing questions to the chef who stands before me wearing the same bright t-shirt as everyone else. A plate of crusty bread and cannabis tapenade are laid before me, like the chips and salsa of ganja, and I dive in without remorse. Its tangy, and sweet, with a little spice on the back side of it and I make a mental note to buy it by the gallon. Now, three days later, I am licking the leftovers from my plate and rearranging my schedule to get back to Denver for a refill.
Edibles are a different way to ingest medical marijuana, and one that I urge everyone to try. The feeling you get is dissimilar to smoking, but for me it is the best way to keep the pain of Rheumatoids Arthritis at bay. Ingesting edibles you receive much less of the “high” that you get from smoking or vaporizing, but retain many of the sedating and pain relieving effects. Most dispensaries sell edibles in some form, usually in a dessert format such as brownies or cookies but rarely in the more savory dishes like lasagna and salad dressing. Ganja Gourmet is the best of both worlds, the medication you love in the food that you love to eat. My one question is, Do you all take requests?
