Marijuana and Weight Loss- How smoking helped me lose it.

Fat, not so happy.

Fat, not so happy.

Standing 5 foot 9 inches, Ive always been one of the tallest women in my peer group, a fact I enjoyed until I found myself as also one of the largest. Weighing at one point, over 200 pounds, I knew that I was in trouble.  My family suffered from my inactivity and my body was a wreck. I was winded walking up the stairs and wrestling with my three young boys became not only difficult, but impossible. I was dying and I was going to leave my family with a very large casket bill and a huge hole to dig. How did marijuana help me lose over sixty pounds and get into the best shape of my life? Let me explain. Dealing with the pain of an autoimmune disease left undiagnosed, I was prescribed massive amounts of narcotics and antidepressants. On top of those, they added large doses of mood stabilizers of every flavor. Uppers. Downers. Numbers. Zingers. The hard stuff. The klonipins and the xanax and anything else the doctor could think of. Pretty soon, I was addicted and dependent on these medications to simply live through a day with tolerable pain. It never went away, no matter how many 750mg Vicodin I took in a day, which was sometimes upwards of ten or more. To look back on all of this, makes my stomach turn. To know Ive spent so many years poisoning my body uselessly, is frightening and I worry daily when those years will catch up to me. I found myself on no less than eleven mood altering medications a day, all of which included a little disclaimer from the doctor who said “Some people gain weight on this, so watch what you eat.” Sure, a pound here or a pound there is one thing, but when you stack 11 drugs atop each other and each of them is going to make you gain five pounds or so…. You get the point. I was fat. I was unhappy and I was in an amazing amount of pain. This dark time in my life also brought out the worst in me, as depression often does. Suicide seemed the only option for me and though I am not proud of my behavior at the time, I am thrilled I made it through and am much stronger for it. So how did marijuana help me do it? FotoFlexer_PhotoFirst, medicinal marijuana allowed me to stop the mood altering medications and start living a life free from the haze of them. The eleven medications that gave me constant worry, constant doctors appointments, hospital visits and stress are all a thing of the past. The narcotic pain medications that notoriously cause weight gain were removed from my diet and I no longer feel like I am living my life six feet under water.Kicking the dope was hard, but I had an amazing support group and Baby Daddy was there the whole way through. Medicinal Marijuana saved my life and changed my body. I certainly have to worry about the stuff I eat, since marijuana often causes the enjoyable side effect of the “munchies.” The chance of overdosing on oreos remains high, but I am no longer risking my life and health for the opportunity to live pain free. Sure, it may not do the same for you, but marijuana is much safer and much healthier for your body than opiates and narcotics.

Make the right choice and go all-natural.

Tell me, How has marijuana helped you?

I did my thing by shopping at a disensary. Why, you may ask, does that help the cause? I am of the mind, that the only way to truely get through to the powers that be is cold hard cash. I think the more sales tax revenue generated by this bastard industry will become very compelling to governments facing huge budget crisis'. So I use retail establishments & pay my sales tax. If you cant beat 'em, joint 'em!

I really enjoy reading your posts especially this one! I can completely relate to your story and have had similar experiences. I was able to eliminate 27 different pills/pharmaceuticals from my physician’s “health treatment plan” for me in overcoming cancer, fractured vertabae in my back, depression, anxiety etc. Using medical cannabis is the best thing I’ve ever done for my body. I admire your work, story and your ability to enlighten others!

I was in the same position as you, dependent on the prozac and seroquel(I know I butchered that) to control the mood swings associated with bipolar disorder. I don’t know you, but I want to tell you that you CAN get off the prozac. I haven’t had a problem in over 5 months, and I’ve been off the medication for close to 7 months. Please, speak openly and honestly with your doctor. Ask them if there is anything else you can do to get off the prozac, or at least lower the dose you are currently taking until you no longer need it. The side effects of prozac are numerous and some are potentially life threatening. I’ve lost close to 50 pounds since I stopped taking the laundry list of medications I was on, and I haven’t had a single problem associated with my supposedly “chronic” conditions in a very long time. Know that I will keep you in my thoughts, and if you’d like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask.
