Recreation is a very therapeutic activity. I agree with Dennis, among others, who feel that all use is Medicinal. I don't need an excuse to smoke a doobie or eat a hashoil brownie if I feel like it. It's certainly more dangerous to eat aspirin than to use Cannabis. It does so much more for me than to help to relieve the panic episodes I experience when PTSD rears it's ugly head. I find it rude and intrusive when people try to make me justify my Cannabis use. I think it's great that after 70+ years that the AMA is finally reading it's own historical documents. It's about time for goodness sakes. What do they say to the uncounted millions of people who've been harrassed ,incarcerated ,and otherwise forced to live in misery due to this stupid dictate. Opps? or ,"well that was before we decided to sanction it's use". I demand my right to grow ,smoke, and share. All this other stuff is just another way to justify some greedy control trip in my eyes.
The long and short of it is, if you feel it is only for certain people, you are part of the problem.By focusing only on medicine as the excuse for using,it makes people who are not sick potheads.By saying anyone can use it,it takes away the stigma and allows people to realize the numerous other uses for the hemp plant…You are not Medicinetress December, are you?
Students! These are the future politicians! The future lawmakers! Who is educating these people!
The “green rush” is that the gold rush of our day and age? How much money is being made here?
Ive found the same thing. If people aren’t patients themselves or related to a patient who is being helped by mmj, I find absolutely no desire to learn about the whole topic. We need to push for more education and “higher” standards of care.
Ahh…. to be a fly on the wall of community college where Hemptress December is enrolled. Give em hell girl.
Kind of off the topic- but are you coming to the meeting tonight in boulder?
Im going to try to make it tonight! Will you be there?
Thats a great point Homer, I am not.
Are oxy codin users just junkies? I have a more sympathetic view.
As A Trained Chiropractor I Assert That Cannabis Is The Best Preventative Medicine On This Planet & Bob Dylan Had It Just Right With His Lyric "Everybody Must Get Stoned." Stress Is Not Only The Biggest Killer On This Earth, But Also Leads To A Tremendous Amount Of Antisocial Behavior & I Believe Many Of Those Who Have Perpetrated This Type Of Behavior Would Not Have Done So If They Were Consumers Of Cannabis. Also The Majority Of These Antisocial Individuals Are Heavy Users Or Abusers Of Alcohol, Which By It's Very Nature Leads To Overly Aggressive Behavior Which Cannabis Does Not. Finally There Would Be No Medical Marijuana Movement Today Were It Not For We Potheads Laying The Groundwork In Taking The Abuses From Law Enforcement Officials & Blowing Our Smoke Right Back In Their Faces. We All Need To Work Together For Complete & Total Decriminalization & Nothing Less As Cannabis Is Medicine For The Entire Human Race & Not Just Those Suffering From Major Illness's Or Debilitating Diseases. (Genesis 1:29-31).
I personally believe that none of us are free until all of us are free. However, since we are forced to negotiate with the bastards I feel protections for the sick and dying must be a priority. Compassion is caring about issues beyond your own front door. I often get frustrated with MMJ users who certainly rely on the votes and voices of recreational smokers, yet treat them with impunity.
I love smoking pot. I am the most rediculous head….S
I hate the word pothead but………. I assume the seriously ill patients I am surrounded by on a daily basis would much rather ingest cannabis and be referred to as a pothead than consume and deal with the side-affects of all the other hardcore narcotic prescription drugs their doctors wrote for them and be called a druggie…. wait……so they're not druggies if they have all 15 of their medications 2 or 3 times a day?? but they're potheads if they use marijuana as an alternative?? it all makes perfect sense!!
Hemptress The medical marijuana movements most influential person http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/dennis.peron?ref=nf says that ALL USE IS MEDICINAL. The intention behind "Medical Marijuana" was access for everyone to get weed via a legal loophole. So that means even if you are just a "dude pass the bong, so I can get stoned and play video games" type stoner, it means that it is still medical use. If you don't like it you may as well be LEO. Because to suggest that people don't deserve the protections of medical marijuana is to make a treasonous statement against all smokers. The snobbery exhibited by other patients about the ease of getting a recommendation is disheartening. Why is it that some people (this includes people in our community) think that if you aren't visibly sick and dying with an ADA qualifying condition then you aren't a medical user? Medical marijuana is meant for everyone, stress and headaches are medical issues, and I don't know of a physician that won't agree that preventive medicine is the best medicine. The same people who demonize those "recreational" smokers who use "medical marijuana as an excuse to be legal" are the very same people that will be the first to post links about the wonderful PREVENTIVE benefits cannabis has, such as cancer, stress, and respiratory problems.
FYI in 1994 I found my fathers bong. As an AIDS patient he was definatly medical and had a doctors recommendation before medical marijuana laws were on the book. He taught me that it was medicine not a recreational drug. Medical Marijuana has been a part of my life before the concept was even considered feasible by 99.999999% of the population. Also my condition is an ADA qualifying condition, and if I wanted I could be on government programs instead of trying to earn an honest living.
I use my pot as medicine but i have always. how much better would things be if everyone had a sense of well being.
by the way i put my money where my mouth was and detoxed off 820mg a day of oxycontin to be able to convivce my doc that he couldn't stop me from using this drug, he seems to be convinced that it at least works for me.lol
I am a patient. Without Supplemental Cannabioids and Omega 3's All of my organs begin to shut down including my skin. I havent gotten high from weed in over a decade. I smoke about 1oz. a week for homeostatic balance and well being.
Once again, you have spurred me to action on this topic. I have a new post up on my site because it was turning into a bit of a book in the comment section here.
This makes the drug companies crazy when they see this kind of success.
i havent been to a doctor so he can tell me what i already know. its a fact that it helps people it sure helps me.
Gerry-I also detoxed of approx 16,000mcg of fentyl daily. I still use some pharms but much much less toxic to my brain and body. Yet my doc in PA would kick me to the streets if he knew I smoked. Soon PA will have our turn I guess. The world is changing it just seems like it could go a little faster.
