How much should marijuana cost?
free..
Even growing your own and putting in your own hard work, its FAR from free! Are you saying that growers should get no compensation for their work?
lol..nah..just answering the question..plus, it can grow wild if bugs and animals dont get it
depends-everything varies.you pay for a mercedes,you don't want a ford! Rare strains,THC level,taste,effect,mode of growth,all must factor in..
The "street price" of marimedijuana is artificially inflated by the black market. A "fair price" would cover the costs of production and distribution, including labor, overhead, etc., just like any other product. A profit margin above costs would be regulated by the law of supply and demand. As more growers enter the market, competition should cause prices to fall. For people with low income, it should be covered by Medicaid like all essential medicines.
And what would that figure look like? Ten bucks a gram? Five?
It could be much lower. Other herbs sold in bulk at the natural food stores are going for $5 and $10 an ounce.
I think you are confused. The cost of cannabis is simply the sum of inputs needed to produce it. The price of cannabis is a reflection of demand for it and what the market will bear.If you are asking what the price should be then that will vary based on the business practices of the dispensary and the market in which they operate. As a business owner you will want to find the right mix of price and demand to optimize profits. Sometimes you can make more money by lowering the price and making more sales. Other times people will do just the opposite. Ford and Mercedes are good examples of these pricing schemes. In free markets the role of prices is to limit demand so that people will self limit their unlimited wants and desires.Trying to determine a price based on what you think is "fair" will have little resemblance to current market realities. It's like saying $4 for a gallon of gas is too much. It's not too much as long as people are willing to pay it.I'll get off my economics box now =D
but then again, why should medicine be about making money?
Just sparking conversation.
This question touches on the issue of health care reform. Medical services should be non-profit. There is an inherent conflict of interest between medicine and commerce; one is altruistic and the other is adversarial.
Because everything is about making money. If they couldn't make money from it there'd be no medicine. Profits are not evil. You wouldn't get up and go to your job every morning if there wasn't some profit in it. I know it can be emotional when it comes to a market such as medicine but you have to divorce yourself from those emotions if you want to see the issues clearly.
If all medical services were non-profit how much medical services do you suppose we would have and what quality would they be?
I pay a very fair price and would support my caregiver in any way I can. Financially or otherwise.
Being a caregiver for multiple patients I can give some cost. Electric- $1,000 a month , Gas (heat and water) – $100-$200 a month, Nutrients- $600 a month, Rent on farmhouse – $1,200 a month, Water- $100 a month, not to mention my food, auto gas, telephone, house cost, and equipment cost. How much should I sell my meds for? With a monthly cost of over $3,000 I have to be a good grower and budget my money wisely to provide my patients with meds at a better than dispencery cost and as good or better meds.

The MERP model allows patients and adults the choice to grow their own. That could exact a price of $0 to $25 and ounce depending on whether they grow under lamps of outside. Of course this requires that they put in the labor. As I investigate the caregiver situation in Michigan it becomes clear that their is significant labor and skill involved for growers. I could see commercial prices fall to about $200 an ounce but doubt it would go much lower. For more info on the MERP Model:

Maybe this is me talking nonsense, but it seems like Google isn’t a company run strictly by the top and they seem to be doing quite well.
