  lol! from what i have seen of parenting it seems that honesty is the best course of action when he does realize. i don’t have kids and yet i often wonder if when i do, if i’m forthright with them about how it benefits me, would that make me a bad parent? and the only answer i can come to is no. in fact i feel that were i to hide it from my children that would not only make me a bad parent, but a hypocrite as well. thankfully that is not an issue for me now, nor any time in the immediate future. but i think you are a good mom. don’t stress too much.
