Dear Mr. President,
I voted for you for several reasons, one of which was your stance on Cannabis. You seemed honest about the prohibition and recreational use of Cannabis, more honest than other candidates and far more than this country’s previous president.
You and I both know prohibition doesn’t work, and that our streets are filled with dealers slinging dangerous drugs to our children. Can we be real here? Can we talk about the real problems in our society? The privatization of our prisons, the imprisonment of our minorities, the literal collapse of our infrastructure, the way we are failing to educate our children.
So much has happened from the failed war on drugs, so many lives ruined, so many generations affected. The war on drugs has failed America, and Im asking for you to take a stand. The American public is at a crossroads, never before have so many been so passionate about so much. We need the change you promised. We need you to be fair and decisive. But most of all, more than anything, We need you to listen.
Put your ear to the ground. Hear the marching feet of millions of people who want Medicinal Cannabis and the millions more that could benefit from it, we are watching you. We are listening to every word. We are seeing the baby steps, but we need more. People are hurting and people are dying, over a plant. A plant you know has zero deaths attributed to it’s use but millions of incarcerated youth left to waste in private prisons.
We are tired and we are angry, but we refuse to give up the fight.
Stop the raids on Medicinal Marijuana Dispensaries, Stop the cash crop of privatized prisons based on racist agendas, Stop sending our children to prison and failing their brothers in school. You have a couple of years left before We The People,decide our next president but YOUR time is NOW. Do the right thing.

Thanks so much. I'm currently trying to get Renee Emery's support but Armentano (NORML) has basically told me "absolutely no support" from them. Also have heard noth back from Ed Rosenthal though he may have "cold feet" after what happend to Dennis Peron. They both worked for Oaksterdam. I'm not surprised. They fired Dennis after he opposed Medical Marijuana Taxation.I would like to make Marc's release a sub-issue of the protest. This is modeled after the Global Marijuana March where small groups can organize protests locally. The time frames are short but the payoff could be great IF we can get it going virally. For my part I will be posting any other events at my website in the next week.

He has said before he will not sign any legislation concerning marijuana. I remember. He held the same stance as Edwards and McCain.

He also said he has used it and that it wasnt such a big deal. Presidents before him were stuck on the war on drugs, I believe obama has a broader perspective and will make the changes we need.
It is time for the tables to turn…it’s our birthright to use plants for healing.
