Older TV used to be about the housewife and the husband who worked all day, a la Dick Van Dyke, and now we've got the bitchy, successful wife and the dumb bumbling husband. Let's put it this way, if television portrayed women like it did even just 20 years ago, we'd have riots on our hands. Does it imitate life? Maybe at an extreme, but anyone who thinks TV represents the utmost truth of what life is like needs a reality check. Why the bumbling husband? Because it sells, because people watch it.
